In addition to their current 30 solid orders, Porter Airlines has placed a firm order for 20 more Embraer E195-E2 passenger aircraft.
The E195-E2 will let Porter expand its highly regarded service to additional locations across North America. With this transaction, which has a list price of US$1.56 billion, Porter has now placed orders with Embraer for up to 100 E195-E2 aircraft, 50 of which are firm commitments and 50 of which are bought rights.
Porter placed an order for 30 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft in 2021 for a total of US$5.82 billion, with the option to purchase a further 50 aircraft.
For Embraer’s newest family of aircraft, the E2, Porter Airlines will serve as the first customer in North America.
Porter’s investment is expected to upend Canadian aviation, increasing competition, raising the bar for passenger service, and possibly even generating 6,000 new employment.
Porter plans to use the E195-E2s to fly passengers from Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and Toronto Pearson International Airport to well-liked business and vacation locations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Beginning in the second half of 2022, Porter is anticipated to make its maiden delivery and go into service. In the E195-E2, there is enough for 120 to 146 passengers. Porter’s E2 configuration plans will be made public when the time comes.
