On May 17, 2023, Air Algérie finalized an agreement with Boeing to procure eight B737-9 MAX planes, which are expected to be delivered in 2027.

To expand and update its fleet, the Algerian flag carrier made an official statement via LinkedIn in April 2023 regarding its intention to purchase 15 new aircraft. The procurement plan entails five wide-body Airbus A330-900 planes, two A350-1000s, and eight Boeing narrow-body planes.

The acquisition of these aircraft is part of Air Algérie’s bigger program to refresh and increase its fleet. To fulfill its strategy, the airline also published a Request for Proposals in April 2023 to dry lease ten airplanes, which includes four Airbus A330-200/300s, two A330-900s, two Boeing 737-800s, and two Boeing 737-9 MAX, for five years. These planes will be incorporated into the fleet as soon as they become available.

At present, Air Algérie’s fleet comprises 56 aircraft, which includes eight A330-200s, 32 Boeing 737s in various models, 15 ATR-72 turboprops, and one L100, which is the civilian version of the military Lockheed C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft.

Air Algérie aims to expand its African and Asian route networks significantly as part of its growth plan.
