The national airline of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Air Côte d’Ivoire, has placed a definitive order with Airbus for two A330neo planes.
According to a statement issued by Airbus, Air Côte d’Ivoire will use the A330neos to assist the debut of its long-haul services, which was announced at the Toulouse headquarters of Airbus.
“The new A330neo widebody aircraft will enable Air Côte d’Ivoire to grow its network and efficiently launch long haul routes in view of the airline’s transcontinental expansion strategy,” the statement continued.
The two A330neos will be the first of their kind in the fleet of Air Côte d’Ivoire, which currently consists of six Airbus aircraft, including four De Havilland Q400 Dash 8s, one A320neo, two A320ceo, and three A319 in addition to the two A330neos.
Air Côte d’Ivoire debuted in May 2012 and is headquartered in Abidjan. From its hub in Abidjan, the airline provides domestic service throughout Côte d’Ivoire to San-Pedro, Bouake, Korhogo, Obienne, and Man.
According to the airline’s website, its regional network includes services to locations in West and South Africa.
Through a codeshare that was started on May 12, 2018, Air Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopian Airlines have historically run three direct flights each week from the airport in Abidjan to the City of New York.
Air Côte d’Ivoire now operates a pair of A330neos, joining airlines like Uganda Airlines.
