Delta Air Lines, a US airline, has started talks with the European company Airbus to possibly increase its current order for 95 A220 narrow-body passenger aircraft.

On July 13, 2022, industry sources confirmed to Reuters that the Atlanta-based airline is in discussions to buy 12 additional aircraft on top of its current contract for 95 Airbus A220s. About 56 of these aircraft have already been sent to the carrier.

The sources also said that the carrier might announce the additional purchase, which would bring its fleet of A220 aircraft to 107 aircraft, at the Farnborough Airshow in 2022. Between July 18 and July 22, the event is scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom.

The sources also informed Reuters that during the ceremony, Delta might potentially seal its agreement with American aircraft manufacturer Boeing for an order of up to 100 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft.
