The Guinness Book of World Records named an 86-year-old American Airlines flight attendant this week as the oldest and longest-serving flight attendant in history.
Guinness claims that Boston resident Bette Nash’s 65-year tenure at American Airlines sets a record.
In 1957, she graduated as a stewardess.
According to Sam Sweeney of ABC, Nash was given the freedom to take any route she wanted, but for the majority of her career, she has stuck with the New York-Boston-Washington D.C. shuttle.
Nash decided to take this road and still does so since it enables her to spend every evening at home with her son, who has special needs and for whom she still provides care.
“I fly hundreds of thousands of miles a year, but these are always my best flights when Bette is on the plane,” said one passenger.
