On July 15th, British Airways urged passengers to think about delaying their summer vacations as the carrier struggles to meet demand.

Passengers scheduled to depart before July 25 were contacted by the UK’s national airline and asked whether they would be willing to reschedule their tickets without being charged.

It offered complimentary flight rescheduling to passengers flying in the following two weeks and the option to switch to another BA-operated flight within the next 12 months, subject to availability.

The airline expressed its hope that the policy will reassure passengers and give them more flexibility.

Mr Charles said: “I said it would be a summer of stress. BA now asking those travelling before July 25 to consider changing flights, so enabling them to more easily choose which flights to cancel at short notice.”

Due to severe staff shortages, the airline, which laid off almost 10,000 employees as a result of the pandemic, has struggled to get flights in the air and services running on time this summer.
