On September 22, 2022, low-cost airline Canada Jetlines (JETMF) made its inaugural flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Calgary International Airport (YYC).
Canada Jetlines CEO Eddy Doyle expressed his excitement about starting service on its first day from its travel hub in Toronto to the energetic city of Calgary (JETMF).
With a focus on leisure travel, Calgary was chosen as the first location because of its exciting tourist alternatives, vast natural beauty, and ability to appeal to a significant portion of Canadians said Doyle.
The carrier initially intended to begin operations in the spring of 2022, but due to licensing issues, the launch date was first moved to August 15 and subsequently to August 29, 2022.
On August 23, 2022, the airline received its final licenses.
In 2013, Canada Jetlines (JETMF) was established. Since then, the carrier has struggled to begin operations and has gone through nearly continual management changes. The airline was originally founded to offer ultra-cheap services to locations in the US, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
Canada Jetlines (JETMF), which chose the Airbus A320 as its standard fleet, received its first A320 from Irish lessor Jackson Square Aviation in December 2021. The A320-200, designated C-GCJL, has been around for 12.7 years.
By 2025, the airline hopes to fly a total of 15 aircraft after further fleet expansion.
