The new Boeing 777-8 freighter has been chosen by cargo carrier Cargolux to replace its fleet of 747-400 aircraft, the firms announced at the Farnborough Airshow.
The announcement, which does not include any specific numbers yet, is instead a “preferred selection” from the entire 747 operator.
“With the 777-8 Freighter being the preferred solution to replace our 747-400s, Cargolux is looking forward to continuing its ongoing relationship with Boeing,” Richard Forson, president, and CEO of Cargolux, said in a statement on July 21, 2022.
With a total fleet of 30 747-400 and 747-8 Freighters, Cargolux is the largest operator of Boeing widebody freighters in Europe.
The 777-8 Freighter was introduced by Boeing in January, and the company reported receiving more than 50 orders for the aircraft so far.
