Despite the fact that the Chinese government now imposes stringent restrictions on international flight services, China Southern Airlines (ZNH) wants to begin service to 24 overseas destinations in August 2021.
China Southern Airlines (ZNH) intends to launch twice-weekly flights from Guangzhou (CAN), China, to North America, including service to Los Angeles (LAX) in the United States and Vancouver (YVR) in Canada, beginning in August 2021. The airline is also focusing on European destinations, with once-weekly flights to Paris (CDG) and Amsterdam (AMS) in the Netherlands.
While Southern is one of China’s “Big Three” airlines, it is also seeking to expand its operations in Africa. The airline intends to operate a twice-weekly service from Guangzhou (CAN) to Nairobi (NBO), Kenya, as well as one weekly trip to the same destination from its local hubs in Shenzhen (SZX) and Changsha (CGH) (CSX).
Meanwhile, China Southern Airlines (ZNH) is keen to deploy its Airbus A380 wide-body plane to conduct a weekly route between Guangzhou (CAN), Sydney (SYD), and Melbourne (MEL), as well as two flights between Guangzhou (CAN) and Auckland (AKL).
Asia’s new destinations
The anticipated flight schedule for China Southern Airlines (ZNH) for August 2021 demonstrates the airline’s concentration on Asia.
Southern intends to launch a weekly service between Wuhan (WUH) and Islamabad (ISB), Pakistan, as well as between Shenzhen (SZX) and Jakarta (CGK), Indonesia. In addition, two weekly flights are planned from Shenyang (SHE) and Guangzhou (CAN) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) in Japan and Seoul (ICN) in South Korea. The airline’s revised schedule also includes twice-weekly flights between Guangzhou (CAN) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL) in Malaysia, as well as weekly flights to Vientiane (VYE), Laos, Phnom Penh (PNH), Cambodia, Yangon (RGN), Myanmar, Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), Vietnam, Bangkok (BKK), Thailand, Singapore (SIN), Dhaka (DAC), Bangladesh, and Manila (MNL) in the Philippines.
While China Southern Airlines (ZNH) intends to increase the frequency of its international operations in the last month of summer 2021, the current “Five One” policy allows local airlines to fly only one flight per week on one route to any country, while foreign airlines can operate only one flight per week to China.
