According to local media reports, maintenance personnel discovered a man’s dead body in the landing gear of a Lufthansa plane on Thursday morning after it had just landed from Tehran, the capital of Iran.

The horrifying discovery was revealed shortly after the five-hour flight from Tehran that took off at around 1:49 am local time and landed in Germany at roughly 5:18 am on Thursday morning. The Airbus A340 aircraft was being pulled to a maintenance hangar at the time.

On Friday and Saturday, Lufthansa flight LH601 from Tehran to Frankfurt has been canceled. The company did not immediately clarify whether the finding of the dead stowaway was the reason for the cancellation.

Despite the political tension in the area, Lufthansa resumed daily service between Frankfurt and Tehran in September. Since then, the route has been largely stable.

Following the killing of Mahsa Amini, 22, who was arrested and beaten by Iran’s notorious morality police because she was seen walking down the street without a headscarf, protests have shaken the country in recent weeks. Mahsa was killed.

It is difficult to independently verify what is happening in the country because to restrictions on international news, and Lufthansa has not stated whether the airline’s decision to cease service to Tehran is related to a disturbance there.
