The main runway at Gatwick Airport was briefly shut down on the morning of October 13 due to a “burst tire” on an arriving British Airways flight from New York.
Due to the incident, the runway was shut down at 7:42 morning until the issue was resolved.
The departing airplane from JFK airport in New York successfully and safely arrived at Gatwick. The issue led to the runway being shut down for over 20 minutes.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport said: “Gatwick’s main runway was closed for 19 minutes from 0742 this morning due to a British Airways flight (BA2272) from JFK (New York) experiencing a burst tire. The runway has since reopened and flights are operating as normal.”
