EasyJet, a low-cost airline, plans to hire 1,000 additional pilots over the next five years.

EasyJet is restarting its pilot training scheme for the first time since the outbreak began, inviting everyone to seek a career as a pilot.

“We are happy to be resuming our pilot training program for the first time since the pandemic hit,” said Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet. “We will recruit over 1,000 new pilots in the next years.”

EasyJet launched a new campaign with captain Iris de Kan and two senior easyJet FOs, Nina Le and Aaron Moseley, to attract candidates.

Captain Iris de Kan, a mother of two, appears in one of the ads with her five-year-old daughter Kiki, and easyJet claims that it demonstrates how people with exceptional multitasking skills can make effective pilots.

Nina Le, a former gymnast who is now a senior first officer with easyJet, makes a split leap on the tarmac, demonstrating her exceptional responses and hand-eye coordination. Aaron Moseley, an easyJet senior first officer and former resident DJ, chose to pursue a new career seven years ago.

His hands-on practical skills have allowed him to change runway records.

“easyJet has long championed greater diversity in the flight deck and this series of ads aims to highlight the extraordinary breadth of skills our pilots have and show that pilots can be found in all walks of life, in a bid to attract more diverse candidates.

“We continue to focus on challenging gendered stereotypes of the career having doubled the number of female pilots flying with us in recent years.
