Emirates announced that, as of November 4, 2023, it will only operate Airbus A380s on flights to and from Sydney International Airport (SYD).

The Boeing 777-300ER currently operating on EK 416 and 417 to SYD airport will be replaced by the Airbus A380.

Emirates currently flies three times per day between Dubai and Sydney, and with the third flight being upgraded to an additional A380, the route will gain an additional 2,000 weekly seats.

A three-class layout with 489 seats will be used on the third A380 service. The airline’s most recent Premium Economy cabin is available on the airline’s other two services, which have a four-class configuration.

The third A380 flight between Dubai and Sydney will follow the following schedule:

EK 416 arrives in Sydney at 18:20 local time after departing from Dubai at 21:30 local time.

EK 417 takes off from Sydney at 21:10 local time and arrives in Dubai at 04:30 local time.

Emirates currently offers nearly 56,000 seats on 63 weekly services to Australia.

Emirates flies three times daily to Melbourne and Sydney, twice daily to Brisbane, and daily to Perth with its flagship A380.

In addition to linking Sydney and Christchurch, Emirates has also resumed service from Melbourne to Singapore, providing the only Trans-Tasman A380 experience.
