On the evening of January 10, 2023, a Hawaiian Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Flight HA16 was forced to divert to LAX while en route from Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) to San Diego International Airport (SAN), presumably because of problems with the hydraulic systems.
FlightAware, a website that tracks flights, reports that the flight left HNL for San Diego at about 12:45 local time. Eventually, the twin-jet Airbus A330 reached San Diego, but instead of making a landing, it circled the airport before continuing on to LAX, where it touched down at about 18:30 local time.
The jet diverted due to a potential hydraulic issue, an airline official informed the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Passengers are being transported to San Diego by after it landed in Los Angeles “without incident.”
The A330’s safe emergency landing at LAX was seen on camera by the Twitter account KameraOne.
All 284 passengers and crew onboard were safe.
