In the Bostonia district of San Diego, a ten-seat Learjet 35A business jet crashed in the middle of the roadway.

One house was damaged and fully demolished by the aircraft, with the ruins catching fire, which was quickly put out by firefighters.

No survivors have been recovered, according to local media sources. No one was hurt on the ground, but the number of passengers on board the plane – and the total number of fatalities – is unknown.

The crash was reported on December 27, 2021, at 7:15 p.m. local time, according to the Times of San Diego (December 28, 3:15 UTC).

Several homes in the area of the incident were evacuated right away, but the residents were soon permitted to return home.

The plane overturned many power line poles on its way down, knocking out power to up to 2,000 people.

Hundreds of residents were remained without electricity by the early hours of December 28, 2021, despite the restoration of several lines.

The accident occurred just a few kilometers from Gillespie Field Airport (GEE). The plane took off from John Wayne Airport (SNA) at 6:56 p.m. PST (2:56 a.m. UTC) and was expected to land at GEE at 6:56 p.m. PST (2:56 a.m. UTC).

While some sources claim the jet collided with power lines on the way down, unconfirmed security camera footage obtained by Fox 5 San Diego shows the airliner turning left and plunging down during its approach.
