A Qantas Airbus A380 (registered as VH-OQA) has been seen flying once more after more than two years in storage.
When COVID-19 first broke out worldwide in March 2020, the airplane was initially kept at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD). In July 2020, it was relocated to Victorville Airport (VDV) in California, the US.
On September 24, 2022, the double-decker was moved from Vancouver International Airport (VDV) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Flightradar24.com detected activity from its beacons once more.
VH-OQA was seen again on November 17, 2022, this time traveling across the Atlantic Ocean from Los Angeles International Airport to London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
The Airbus A380 was once again traveling to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It’s possible that the plane is traveling there to carry out all necessary repair tasks before it can be used again. The airline’s Jumbo Jets had their cabins renovated in Abu Dhabi, which also has an A380 servicing facility.
