On November 8, 2022, a QantasLink Dash 8 aircraft with the registration VH-TQS caught fire after landing at Sydney Airport.

The turboprop regional airliner had just carried out flight 2265 from Lord Howe Island with 24 passengers onboard.

The Australian reports that the accident happened at 5:30 p.m. local time.

According to reports, the fire started somewhere around the tires on the aircraft’s undercarriage.

During the evacuation, there were no reports of smoke entering the cabin.

On-site fire services were sent to put out the flames. All 24 occupants were safely evacuated without injury.

“Passengers on a flight from Lord Howe Island to Sydney were evacuated following reports of flames near the tires after the aircraft had landed safely,” Petrea Bradford, chief operating officer at QantasLink, told ABC. “Airport fire crews attended, passengers were bussed to the terminal and engineers will inspect the aircraft.”

To determine the cause of the incident, an investigation has been launched.
