Six of Thai Airways’ Airbus A380s are being sold in “as-is, where-is” condition.
On August 23, 2023, the airline invited interested parties to submit bids for six Airbus A380 aircraft with the registrations HS-TUA, HS-TUB, HS-TUC, HS-TUD, HS-TUE, and HS-TUF.
All the six A380’s were placed in storage between March and April 2020, at the start of the pandemic, and THAI Airways never brought them back into service.
The deadline for proposals and deposits totaling $50,000 (per aircraft) from bidders interested in purchasing any of the aircraft is 11:59 p.m. Bangkok time (UTC +7) on September 12, 2023.
“The Bidder is well aware that this sale is conducted under the Bankruptcy Court’s order.
The sale of the Aircraft contemplated by [General Terms and Conditions (GTC)] shall be subject to final approval of THAI’s Plan Administrator, and only upon receipt of such approval shall the sale be considered final and contemplated,” the invitation letter read.
Additionally, THAI stated that it reserves the right to reject any offers from unsuitable parties, including those that have been sanctioned by the US and/or the Thai government.
