Following certification by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) this summer, the Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 with the registration D-ABPA and the future name “Berlin” will be delivered to Lufthansa.

The ultra-modern long-haul “Dreamliner” aircraft will use about 2.5 liters of kerosene per passenger every 100 kilometers flown on average. This is about a quarter of what their preceding aircraft cost. CO2 emissions are also reduced as a result.

The cabin of the Boeing 787-9 “Berlin” will be upgraded, with direct aisle access for all Business Class passengers. The aircraft will be deployed on internal German routes for training reasons after several weeks of planned cabin refurbishments at Lufthansa’s maintenance facility in Frankfurt. The Lufthansa “Dreamliner’s” maiden intercontinental scheduled destination will be Toronto.

The Lufthansa Group has placed an order for 32 Boeing “Dreamliners” to be delivered between 2022 and 2027.
