On the evening of October 2, 2022, two Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) cabin crew members were attacked in Melbourne.

When the attacker approached the two crew members, they were on their way to the Rendezvous Accommodation on Flinders Street, the airline’s layover hotel, according to Singaporean media source AsiaOne.

“One dude (with two other friends) gave a huge nudge on my shoulder, then jab[ed] me on my right face,” one of the cabin crew wrote in an Instagram post.

He realized that his colleague was “on the floor” once he had recovered from the punch. The cabin crew then asserted that he attempted to defend himself but was prevented from doing so by either the attacker’s companions or a passerby.

Soon after they got on the scene, police officers and paramedics caught the attacker. The member of the cabin crew stated that neither he nor his coworker was under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs at the time of the incident.

The incident was confirmed by Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) to AsiaOne. The airline reported that the crew members who were assaulted were flown back to Singapore the same day and are now recovering.

The airline noted that it would offer the crew members all the assistance they need during this period.
