A single Airbus A380 was bought by Global Airlines, a new airline based in the United Kingdom (UK), to launch its operations.
According to reports, the airline bought the plane from Doric, a German financial company with a branch dedicated to aviation. The German business is listed as owning 14 Airbus A380 aircraft on its website; 13 of them are now flying for Emirates, and one is being resold.
According to a story from the UK’s The Independent, Global Airlines is looking to buy three more A380s and intends to launch operations in the spring of 2024.
“The next step is to overhaul and refit the aircraft to our high specification, providing our customers with the best experience in the sky today,” the company was cited as saying by The Independent.
Data from ch-aviation.com indicates that Doric is now reselling two Airbus A380s: one, registered as 9H-MIP, which was once flown by Singapore Airlines before being transferred to Hi Fly Malta, and another, A6-EDH, which was formerly flown by Emirates. The older of the two is 16.5 years old, while the younger is 13.8. But because both have been in storage for a while, they need a lot of maintenance before they can be put back into use.
