The Press Trust of India (PTI), citing industry sources, said that the New Delhi-based airline Jet Airways is in discussions with aircraft makers and lessors about the potential to expand its fleet with up to eight aircraft.

On June 30, 2022, sources told PTI that Jet Airways had just started talking to major aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing as well as a number of leading organizations about the possibility of leasing six to eight aircraft.

By December 2022, the aircraft might be added to Jet Airways’ fleet.

The airline is currently busy getting ready for its relaunch, which is scheduled to take place between July and September of 2022.

The announcement of the conversation comes at this time. In April 2019, after its lenders declined to pay more than $50 million (Rs 4 billion) in emergency cash, Jet Airways formally ceased all operations.

The carrier’s operations are currently being resumed by a new ownership partnership made up of the UAE-based businessman Murari Lal Jalan and financial consultancy firm Kalrock Capital, which won the bid to relaunch Jet Airways in spring 2020.

In order to demonstrate that Jet Airways is prepared to resume operations, all required procedures in a thorough regulatory and compliance process have already been completed, including procedural checks.

The carrier’s air operator certificate (AOC) was most recently renewed by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation in May 2022. (DGCA).
