The pilot of an Airbus A320-232 was forced to make an emergency landing in Mexico due to an engine problem.
A passenger on board the Mexican low-cost airline Viva Aerobus recorded video of flames trailing from the wing after a loud bang.
On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, just after 4 p.m. local time, a domestic flight departed from Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) for Guadalajara Airport (GDL).
According to Mexico News Daily, the crew of aircraft VB3235 was made aware of “a failure in one of the engines” just a short time after takeoff.
Twenty minutes after departing, the pilot made an emergency landing and returned to Puerto Vallarta Airport, where the plane was transferred for additional examination.
“The passengers were disembarked in a timely manner, and the aircraft is on the apron for its review and corresponding maintenance,” Viva Aerobus said in a statement.
The airline added: “The aircraft was under control at all times and the welfare of all those on board was preserved”.
