Due to the inability of employees to align stairs with Air Force One due to a snowstorm, US President Joe Biden was trapped aboard the jet for more than 30 minutes.
On January 3, 2022, Biden was returning from vacation when the incident occurred.
The Boeing C-32m, a substantially modified 757 airliner built to transport the US president, landed at Andrews Air Force Base (ADW) in Maryland, not far from Washington, DC.
However, the area had been hit by a strong snowstorm. Thousands of flights were canceled in numerous US cities over the weekend due to heavy snowfall, which began to hit the Washington DC area on the night of January 3.
As the plane touched down, scores of employees rushed to clear the runway, but the stairs were stuck in the snow and were unable to reach the plane.
Biden and his entourage reportedly spent more than 30 minutes on board the plane before the way was opened and the steps were able to reach the plane, according to NBC.
The presidential convoy was forced to make its way slowly through the city’s snow-covered streets during the ensuing drive to the White House.
