In a $300 million lease agreement with Air Lease Corporation (ALC), Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has acquired additional Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Royal Air Maroc will receive four brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and one Boeing 737-800 as part of the long-term lease agreement, which was announced on August 16, 2023.
ALC’s order book with Boeing calls for the new planes to be delivered to the Moroccan flag carrier in 2024.
“Through this agreement with esteemed partners as ALC, Royal Air Maroc will receive additional aircraft that will strengthen and modernize our operational fleet, enabling us to consistently enhance the quality of service for our customers, while also reducing our carbon footprint in line with our environmental commitment,” Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, said.
Royal Air Maroc currently has 27 Boeing 737-800 and two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in service, according to data from ch-aviation.com.
“ALC is pleased to announce this lease placement for five Boeing 737 aircraft with Royal Air Maroc,” Steven F. Udvar-Házy, executive chairman of Air Lease Corporation, said. “We look forward to building our long-term relationship with RAM as they continue to modernize their fleet and grow their network, as well as maximize their competitive advantage with the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the market.”
The airline, which currently has a fleet of more than 50 aircraft, indicated in July 2023 that it plans to increase that number to 200 in the following fifteen years.
